What’s in a name?

Individual Liberty and God vs Controlling Governments:

What do you call it when the Government runs businesses, banks, the media, the schools, medicine, and decides what you can and cannot say in public? The answer today in this country is now called the progressive movement.

Yet in the past, the Progressive Party was just a more palatable name for the Communist Party.

Communal living was tried before in this nation’s history, these Christians called themselves Pilgrims.

This system of government also failed horribly; as the sluggards figured out that others would take care of them.

Only the native people of this land saved the Europeans from certain death, by teaching them the art of trade or Capitalism.

Whether a Christian or a Heathen, conservative or a liberal, history has proved that man’s sin nature has never changed

Yet his actions are called by different names. National Socialism has also been tried before, and it oppressed people from their individual liberties and even their lives.

Our founding Fathers understood this principle of oppressive governments, in pray fully writing our Constitution.

They realized that God and his principles; must always be put above a people, or their government to insure freedom.

They knew the principle of individual freedoms, and responsibility were endowed by our Creator, and were always to be put ahead of government controls, not government controls being put before God and a people.

Whenever God or peoples are ignored by a government; the results have always been the same.

What John McCain did for me!

Does anyone remember the problems at Walter Reed Army Medical Center?

Well, I was caught in that web of communication and service problems at the time and believe me for a full time Army Reserve Technician, injured in the line of duty it was no picnic.

I have always supported my country and my president as a soldier, and this time was no different. I do not blame the President for the failings at “WRAMC” those problems would have been their despite who the President was. It is my opinion in being one of the first Units in my area mobilized after 911 that no real national upgrades have been made to our military on a national level since WWII.

This was obvious to me, the Army and others when we were housed in the barracks of our fathers and grandfathers. Don’t get me wrong, it was kind of a neat experience, but still anyone could see these barracks were never intended to last sixty years.

It is much the same for a military facility, they just had not expected the volume of soldiers that were activated after 911, and WRAMC was no different.

After returning home and transferring from my activated unit back into the unit I worked full time for, I was undergoing our annual battle group training at FT. Meade, MD.

That day was my day of twenty years of military service, and I pushed myself as hard as ever! We were doing water survival training, and immediately after my heart decided to stop... I even had my own Near Death Experience; you can read about on {LightshipMinister.blogspot.com} if you would like, but I am here to tell about what Sen. John McCain did for me over two years after this incident occurred.

Our bills and documentations were piling up in our home, medical, military and my wife’s employment situation for the State of Maryland. It was a great time of anxiety, anger and fear in our relationship. The Army kept telling us to be patient in our situation, but it had been a year and a half, and we had no word about my medical evaluations.

Fortunately for me the U.S. Navy had come to my rescue, and I had the same doc that many on Capitol Hill used for care. Anyway, I finally e-mailed Sen. John McCain about my concerns, as even my own congressional representative had not receive phone calls from the Army Hospital in over a year.

Sen. John McCain did not know me from Adam, yet he championed my case as if it was his own! Within a couple days the 99th Army Reserve Command (who I worked under) contacted me and they were not happy, yet this burocrtic train was starting to move now, with great speed I must add.

By December of 2007, I became medically retired from the Army, and the Army was very good to me once they had reviewed my case. But I owe many thanks to the Navy and in particular Sen. John McCain that managed to crack a nut no one else could accomplish!
When you peel away all the glitter and glimmer from our representatives in Washington DC, it is people like John McCain you will find doing all the tough work!
So if you want action not words, in Washington, DC; vote for Sen. John McCain like I'm going to do!

President of the United States & Merit promotion

It’s too bad that the most powerful leader of the world is not elected under the Merit Promotion criteria, but instead is elected to office like a Television Promotion.

That’s rite like a T.V. commercial, think about it the MTV generation goes after anyone who would dare and compare merit to popular culture.

How dare anyone say that the most powerful position in the world be merited!

You must be an elitist to think it is important to merit the position of President they might say.
Come on Democracy has never been set up that way, and they might be rite.

However, history has proved that the most popular leaders have not always been the best leaders. Winston Churchill was never popular before England really needed him, but because of his experience he had merited, he rose to the level of being one of the greatest men in history!

If one really thinks about it most great people were prepared for leadership long before they were expected to perform in whatever task they were given.

I don’t care how much establishment, educators, or media personalities like a person it all boils down to that individual’s preparedness and character traits.

Most any other executive position a person is hired for (unless they are someone’s cronies)  has always been based on that persons merit and leadership credentials so why should the President of the United States be any different, yet it often is.

I often think about that old verse, “My people perish, for lack of knowledge” and this verse is not just talking about some sheepskin, when taken in contexts.

All throughout history, if people had chosen their leaders wisely instead of just for selfish reasons many civilizations would not have crumbled as quickly as they did.

Anyway, I wish the President of the United States was chosen based on Merit rather than Popularity, because in the long run that would be better for US all.

MEN WORKING

I was watching Hannity and Colmes last evening and the owner of Pink Magazine was offended by “Men Working” signs in Atlanta, Georgia; because they were not “all inclusive” when it came to the gender neutral vocabulary.

She then drew a comparison to “Men Working signs” with hypothetical signs about “Jews Working” or other racially charged signs that would be unacceptable in American society.

I agree completely with that analogy and any racially explicit signs would be totally unacceptable today.
However, no one dared to mention to the Lady that racially charged signs did exist in our recent past; such as segregation signs for “colored” & “whites. Perhaps if this fact would have been pointed out on national television, feminist might reason that they have not been purposely discriminated against by society as with racism or other hate oriented emotions, but rather understand that for millenniums (before technological and social advances) in Western Cultures and others, Men were expected to provide for their Families and Wife’s needs.

This is a historical fact in the world, and “most men” showed no mallets when it came to providing for women, or their families either in the workplace or battlefield. Have we become so politically obsorbed that we must constantly revise the past?

Revisionist Feminist need to understand this history in its proper perspective, and stop using emotionalism, false comparisons, and the manipulation of guilt on men that had nothing or nothing to do with any type of discrimination in the past.

Fore most, they must stop comparing racial discrimination and even slavery too themselves as the majority of women suffrage by most men in the west deeply pales in comparison.

So in my humble opinion “Men Working Signs” is nothing more than one of the last remnants of a bygone society, and it is
worth remembering those men's sacrifices made for there families, and the society that we still enjoy even today.

We all should put into perspective, how far we have come from and where we are going, otherwise we risk loosing collectivly the gains we have made in the past.

Get a Grip, we all should be thankful we live in a country that recognizes the accomplishments of others, and strives to be better.

Remember the Spartans?

I am a true Conservative and a Christian. I don't believe that by supporting John McCain for President that I am a sell out to my principals.

We do not, nor have we ever lived in a perfectly principled world.

I also believe in the two party systems, if historically pre Nazi Germany had not had multiple political parties that divided up the vote, than Adolph Hitler could have never been elected to power. I am not trying to compare anyone too Hitler, I am simply attempting to show what can happen in having a divided electorate.

Why do I make this comparison; it is because ideal logy has never politically held a place in reality, and the closest ideal logs ever elected to power have always been extremists.

Even Ronald Reagan with his steadfast beliefs always was able to compromise for the greater good of the country, and I believe that all Republicans conservative or otherwise need to support the lesser of two evils.

I greatly respect the rite of others to descent as a matter of conscience, but please do not forget that we are at war, and we must slow the tied of decline of our country as much as possible. This will not happen if liberal Democrats’ are continually elected to power.

I agree with Ann Coulter on the political issues stated; however wars are often won as the enemy of my enemy often becomes my ally.

I realize it is Ann’s Job to be a sword of truth for the “Godly” Conservative cause as it is many others including myself, but please let’s not forget the alternative of our complacency if we cannot at least vote for the greater good of our country, putting our more personal beliefs in perspective.

In the interest of full disclosure; I am a Disabled American Veteran and certified Chaplain that Sen. John McCain personally helped when my other representatives could not, at Walter Reed. I must tell you for me personally, I felt led to give back to Senator McCain for all that the Lord used him in my life.

Again this is a matter of individual conscience, but at least consider the alternatives if this Party fails to elect even a moderate as a President.

In a general election, we must move beyond Party lines and in my opinion vote for the greater good of the country.

A Nation Devided Cannot Stand

Hello Fellow Americans,

Have you ever longed for the good old days like I have?

It was a time when right and wrong existed, not just the situational ethics so common today.

This is my first blog, and sort of an introduction of the views of a man pushing fifty.

So I will try and make it short and sweet by simply contrasting what I was taught growing up, as opposed to what the U.S. Army taught me as an equal opportunity representative (E.O.R.) at Ft. Bragg.

I try to look at things from a Christian perspective, but am open to others views although pluralism opposes any philosophy of absolutes, and  is therefore continually challenged.

So this is my take on the culture war for our Country today...

First off, I am not ashamed to say that I am a Christian and basically my world view is traditional.   I do have many intellectual and liberal friends however.
The reason we are friends is because of respect for each other, and we exhibit a willingness to listen with an open mind to each others thoughts, and we do not have a political agenda.

I have witnessed many in this country who are not so “liberal” in there acceptance of others (that do not hold there same views). This type of posturing has always held true, all the way back since before the Roman Empire. Yet many well educated people exhibit this same trait of intolerance.

I am particularly concerned about the attack by many secularists on the “faith” of others. This type of so called “scientific” venom is nothing new, most recently it was practiced allot during the 1930’s both in this country and overseas, (don't make me use the word as it pushes too many buttons). This type of behavior only proves that human nature never really changes, just the labels we use.

First comes marginalization of a people, then comes separating them, then comes persecuting them... wanting them out of a country for example (for the better good of all), and then genocide has even occurred.

Yep, if you’re honest with yourself you can still see it today.

The strength of the United States has always come from its moral unity, and ability to tap into its diverse population when fighting an enemy, not the other way around.

The Army knows better than anyone, "first hand" the results of this kind of divisiveness!

Unfortunately, this is a result of many “well educated” humanistic scholars teaching in this country since the end of the Second World War.

In stead of producing so called, “tolerant liberal minds” that were predominant in the 1960’s, it has actually produced the divisiveness that we see today in the Culture War. Never before has the country been so divided amongst its population. This is very dangerous when one group of people use the Government (political party) in destroying the social rights of others.

This is why people are so divided in every aspect of  “cultural collision of values”.

It was General Douglas MacArthur that said “pluralism is the enemy, the longer you allow it to exist, the bigger and bloodier the wars become”.

Sounds contradictory to what I just said, doesn’t it?   It really is not, you see Pluralism creates intolerance of others, when we share no common values, or what I call core values. This is why the Army Equal Opportunity system works and others do not: Core Values. If you have no core values as in Pluralism, no one can agree on anything resulting in some type of war, cultural or otherwise.

It was Abraham Lincoln that stated in his Gettysburg Address, “That a House Divided Can not Stand.” By the way, Lincoln was quoting Jesus Christ.

We must put our venom aside for our fellow countrymen, and work together to conquer any type war if we are to remain a United States.
